Scope

This policy applies to all students enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana Technical College, including those in credit and non-credit courses.

Refund Eligibility

Students may be eligible for a refund of tuition and fees under the following circumstances:

  1. Course Withdrawal:
    • Students who withdraw from a course before the official drop date, 7 days after start of class, may be eligible for a full refund of tuition minus processing fees for that course.
    • Students who withdraw on the 8th day which is after the official drop date may receive a partial refund based on the college’s refund schedule.
  2. Program Cancellation:
    • If SLTC cancels a course or program, students will receive a refund of tuition minus fees associated with that course or program.
  3. Administrative Withdrawal:
    • Students may receive a refund if they are administratively withdrawn from a course due to extenuating circumstances, such as medical emergencies or other valid reasons as determined by the administration.

Refund Schedule

Refunds will be processed according to the following schedule (insert specific dates and percentages based on SLTC’s policy):

Long-term Courses (3 months or more

  • Before the Drop Date, 7th day of class: 100% refund minus processing fees
  • If you withdraw between the 8th and 14th day of the course, you will be eligible for a 50% refund, minus any non-refundable fees.
  • 23 days After the Drop Date, the 30th day of class: 50% refund minus processing fees
  • No Refund After the 30th day of class: 0% refund

Short-Term Classes

  • All must be dropped before the start of class for a refund. No exceptions
  • If a student misses class due to an uncontrollable situation, the student may receive a credit for the following class. This is determination is decided on a case-by-case base.

Note: There are NO refunds on processing fees, admission fees or book purchases. Specific deadlines for refunds may vary by term and should be confirmed with the SLTC academic calendar.

Refund Process

To request a refund, students must follow these steps:

  • Credit/Debit Card: Refunds will be processed back to the original card used for payment.
  • Bank Transfer: Refunds requested via direct deposit will be processed according to the banking information provided.
