The 40-hour EM 385-1-1 course will provide the information you need to stay up to date on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) training standards.

This is an online course based on the Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Requirements manual, 2024, with an interactive outline. The scenes have text with good visibility to provide an engaging learning experience. To make all related information readily available for you, references to other sections have been hyperlinked with PDFs that pop open in a new window. References are also provided in the first scene of every section.

The course covers all 37 sections of EM 385-1-1. There are practice assessments periodically scattered throughout the course. The course also has a final exam that must be passed with a passing score of 70% or above for successful course completion.

Course Objectives

  • How to effectively serve as a site safety health official (SSHO).
  • Know the SSHO qualifications and responsibilities.
  • Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) forms and their development.
  • Site personnel training, incident response and reporting procedures, jobsite auditing, and hazard communication.
